It was 7:50 AM and I jolted out of bed. Realizing that I overslept for school, I ran to wake up my mother but she was already sitting downstairs. She had tears in her eyes as she told me the news, "Ma passed away last night." Overcome with emotion, I fell into my mother's arms and began sobbing. The all too familiar feeling of despair and mourning set in. I fought that dreaded empty feeling and I decided to honor my grandmother by writing her obituary for her and submitting it to the local newspaper. In this time of sadness, I was excited to read the words I wrote that perfectly told the story of my grandmother's life. However, when I opened the newspaper I was heartbroken and utterly devastated to see that my obituary had been rewritten to the same bland format that every other obituary had.
There was no mention of her mouth-watering stuffing, the unconditional love for her husband since they were fourteen years-old.
There was no mention of her mouth-watering stuffing, the unconditional love for her husband since they were fourteen years-old. No mention of how she loved to work in museums and was a wordsmith with a pen, that even Williams Shakespeare would be jealous of. The heart and soul of her being wasn't there.
Being 18-years-old, I was forced to accept the fact that this is the way the system worked; people pass away, we mourn and move on. As years went by, I realized that the sadness that comes with losing a loved one should never overshadow the impact that they have had on everyone's lives around them. I didn't want to mourn anymore, I wanted to celebrate their lives. That is how The Celebration of Life, LLC was created.

Out of a labor of love we focus on creating a Webstone, which honors and celebrates the lives of loved ones who are no longer with us. Our goal is to give an outlet to tell their story from a loved one's perspective in order to capture the very essence of their being. With the purchase of each Webstone we will use your loved one's story to help a local charity and improve the community around us.
Everyone on this earth has a story, now there is a place to celebrate it forever. Welcome to Webstone: The Digital Celebration of Life.
